Mom's Ginger Bread

2 C Flour
1/3 C Sugar
1 t Baking Soda
1 t Salt
1 t Cinnamon
2 t Ginger
1/2 t Cloves
1/2 C Shortening
1 C Molasses
1 Egg, Unbeaten
1/2 C Milk
1/2 t Vinegar
1/4 C Hot Water

Sift together first 7 ingredients. Melt shortening and add to dry mixture along with molasses and egg. Combine vinegar with milk. Add to mixture along with hot water. Bake for 45 minutes in well greased 9x9 square pan at 350F.
