Black Forest Cupcakes

Original Recipe:

1 Box Chocolate Cake Mix
Eggs (See Box Mix)
Oil (See Box Mix)
Black Cherry Soda in Place of Water (See Box Mix)

1 PKG Cream Cheese
2 T Sugar
1 Egg
1 Can Cherry Pie Filling
Whipped Cream in Can

Prepare cake batter according to package directions, substituting the black cherry soda in place of the water. Set aside.

In another bowl combine the cream cheese, sugar, and egg with a hand mixer. If you don't have a hand mixer, warm the cream cheese in the microwave to soften it. Mix until all the lumps are gone and the mixture is smooth.

Line a cupcake can with liners. Place a heaping tablespoon of chocolate cake batter, then a heaping teaspoon of cream cheese mixture, then about two cherries + sauce. Top with another heaping tablespoon of cake batter to make sure none of the cream cheese is showing.

Makes about 24 cupcakes. Bake cupcakes for 20-25 in 350F oven. Let cupcakes cool completely, then top with whipped cream and a cherry + sauce on top of that.
